Planning to move out? Follow these steps to ensure a smooth transition and maximize your security deposit return.

Protect Your Security Deposit

You must provide written notice at least 30 days before your intended move-out date. Failure to provide proper notice may result in loss of your security deposit.

Move-Out Timeline

30-Day Written Notice

Submit your written notice to vacate at least 30 days before your intended move-out date.

Clean & Empty the Apartment

Make sure the apartment is empty and clean before your move-out day. To get your security deposit back in full, leave the apartment in the condition you received it.

Leave Keys on the Counter

Leave all keys on the kitchen counter behind you. You do not need to lock the door.

Provide Forwarding Address

Submit your forwarding address via chat message in RentRedi so we can mail your security deposit refund.

Cleaning Checklist

Use this checklist to ensure your unit is move-out ready. Units not cleaned to standard will incur cleaning fees deducted from the security deposit.

  • Clean stovetop and drip pans
  • Clean front of stove
  • Clean oven and broiler pan
  • Clean lower storage compartment
  • Clean exhaust fan
2Kitchen
  • Wipe cupboards clean inside and out
  • Clean sink, countertop, and remove all stains
  • Clean and mop linoleum floors
3Bathroom(s)
  • Clean sink, toilet, vanity, and countertop
  • Clean bathtub and shower walls
  • Clean mirror and soap dishes
  • Clean linen closet
  • Leave free of stains
4Rooms & Floors
  • Vacuum carpeted floors and remove all stains
  • Clean and dry mop hardwood floors
  • Clean woodwork and radiators
  • Empty all closets
5Walls & Windows
  • Remove all tape, stickers, marks, and adhesive from walls and trim
  • Clean inside of all windows and doors
6General
  • Ensure all smoke detectors are intact and working
  • Remove all personal belongings
  • Leave keys on the kitchen counter

Security Deposit Return

Once the apartment is inspected, it may take up to 30 days to receive your security deposit per the lease agreement. Most security deposits are received within 2 weeks.

Any cleaning or repairs needed will be deducted from your deposit at $50/hour plus materials. For example, 3 hours of cleaning and repairing walls would result in a $150 deduction.

Apartment Viewings

In the weeks leading up to your move-out, management will schedule apartment viewings for prospective tenants. These are typically held on Saturdays around noon. You will receive notice ahead of time and do not need to be present during the viewing if you prefer not to be.
